The Mario Red Nintendo Switch OLED is currently available for just $295 at Amazon. This special-edition console, which debuted last holiday season at $350, has been largely out of stock at major retailers throughout 2024. Amazon recently restocked the striking all-red system, and its current price of $295 is the lowest yet. It's also the most affordable Switch OLED currently on the market. Meanwhile, Amazon is offering the Switch OLED with white Joy-Con controllers for $309, and the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Switch OLED is back in stock at its retail price of $360.

The OLED screen on the Switch OLED offers a significant improvement over the LCD screens found on the base model Switch and the handheld-only Switch Lite. In addition to providing a superior visual experience in handheld mode, the Switch OLED boasts a longer battery life, a wider, enhanced dock with an ethernet port, and a much improved kickstand for tabletop mode.

If you're upgrading from the regular Switch or seeking a handheld experience that more closely matches modern controllers, consider the Satisfye ZenGrip Ronin, which greatly enhances the ergonomics of the Joy-Con controllers. Alternatively, you can opt for a third-party controller attachment like the Nitro Deck, which features remappable back buttons, Hall Effect analog sticks, larger buttons/triggers, and a conventional D-pad. The Nitro Deck is available in various cool designs, including one that resembles a Super Nintendo controller. For those who prefer to stick with red, there's also a discounted translucent red Nitro Deck that comes with a custom carrying case.

To complement your Mario Red Switch OLED, you can pick up Super Mario Bros. Wonder for $46 (originally $60) at Walmart. For those who enjoy creating their own levels, Super Mario Maker 2 is down to $40 (originally $60). RPG fans can also grab Super Mario RPG for $40 and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door for $53 (both normally $60).

It's also worth mentioning that the Hyrule Edition Switch Lite is set to release this week. This gold Zelda-themed console launches alongside The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. Preorders at Best Buy include an exclusive acrylic scene display.

Nintendo has also announced new Mario Kart Switch bundles launching in October. These bundles will include either a standard Nintendo Switch with red and blue Joy-Con, or a Switch OLED model with white Joy-Cons, along with a digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a 12-month subscription card for Nintendo Switch Online (typically $4/month). Nintendo Switch Online allows you to play a vast selection of games online, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and grants access to a large library of classic NES, SNES, and GameBoy games. The exact release date for the bundles is yet to be confirmed, but Nintendo has confirmed that the standard Switch plus Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle will cost $300, while the Switch OLED bundle will be available for $350.

Beyond the new Zelda game, there are several other Switch exclusives to look forward to in the coming months, such as Mario Party Jamboree on October 17 and Mario & Luigi: Brothership on November 7. While a new Switch successor console might be on the horizon, there are still numerous notable Nintendo Switch exclusives planned for 2025, along with an impressive back catalog, making the console a worthwhile investment. Upcoming titles include Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and the highly anticipated Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, all slated for 2025.
