Mark Wahlberg recently ventured into unfamiliar territory. The 53-year-old actor's restaurant, Flecha Cantina, experienced a significant fire on its patio due to a flat, outdoor fire pit on Wednesday. A spokesperson for Flecha Cantina informed People that the fire ignited after "a defective fire pit caught fire on the bottom of it."
"The fire crew arrived promptly and extinguished the flames," the spokesperson continued. "There was no damage to the interior of the restaurant. The only damage was to the fire pit and the chair next to it. Fortunately, no one was injured." Footage shared on X by @LasVegasLocally showed the fire raging outside Flecha Cantina.
The incident occurred the night before Wahlberg's scheduled ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, just weeks after the restaurant opened its doors on September 14. Despite the fire, the spokesperson confirmed that the event would proceed as planned. The Las Vegas restaurant, according to a press release, offers "a fusion of traditional Mexican flavors with innovative twists." This second location follows the opening of Flecha Cantina in Huntington Beach, California, in June.
The Clark County Fire Department received a report of the fire on the restaurant's patio around 5:30 p.m., as stated in a press release obtained by the outlet. Sprinklers were activated, and all patrons had been evacuated by the time the fire crew arrived. Fortunately, the fire did not spread to the interior of the building, according to the fire department, and was confined to a propane fire table.
Firefighters managed to reduce the flames sufficiently to allow the propane tanks fueling the table to be turned off. The Flecha Cantina spokesperson confirmed that "the fire sprinkler company returned to recharge the system, and the restaurant reopened at 7 p.m."
Wahlberg, who relocated to Las Vegas with his wife, Rhea Durham, and their four children from California in 2022, had previously discussed his decision to expand his restaurant empire. In June, he told Fox News Digital that he wanted patrons to "feel like they're at home."
"I want them to have the most incredible experience they've ever had in a restaurant. I want them to feel like they're at home, that they are cared for and pampered," Wahlberg added. The "Arthur the King" star continued, "I've sent many people in unannounced to really gauge the experience. I have an exceptional staff and team. We are a family, and we want to share our family experience, which truly resonates. So come in, enjoy an amazing experience with the food, hospitality, drinks, and fun. It's an experience you'll want to repeat."
