Fast bowler Mark Wood has replaced James Anderson in the England squad for the second Test against the West Indies at Trent Bridge, as announced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Tuesday.
Wood has rejoined the team following Anderson's retirement from Test cricket after the first match at Lord's, which England won by an innings and 114 runs in just three days. With 108 wickets in 34 Tests, Wood last represented England during their tour of India earlier this year. The 34-year-old will now partner with fellow fast bowlers Chris Woakes and Gus Atkinson, who impressed with 12 wickets on his debut.
The second Test of the three-match series is set to commence on Thursday. The England team lineup against the West Indies includes Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (captain), Jamie Smith (wicketkeeper), Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson, Mark Wood, and Shoaib Bashir.
