Martin Lee, the lead vocalist and guitarist of the British pop group Brotherhood Of Man, has passed away at the age of 77. The four-piece ensemble triumphed at the Eurovision Song Contest for the UK in 1976 with their hit song 'Save Your Kisses For Me'. Today, a post on the group's Facebook page confirmed the sad news: 'It is with profound sorrow that we share the loss of our dear friend and colleague, Brotherhood of Man's Martin Lee, who peacefully departed on the evening of Sunday, 29 September 2024 due to heart failure following a brief illness.'
His fellow band members, Lee Sheridan, Sandra Stevens, and Nicky Stevens, expressed their grief: 'For the past 50 years, the four of us have traveled the world harmoniously, creating countless joyful memories. Now, we are utterly devastated and cannot fathom a world without Martin Lee.' Brotherhood Of Man's 'Save Your Kisses For Me' soared to the top of the UK singles chart and reached number one in over 30 countries, becoming one of the best-selling Eurovision singles in the contest's history.
The band released a total of 18 albums, with their most recent, 'The Seventies Story', coming out in 2002. Other notable hits by the band include 'Angelo', 'Figaro', 'United We Stand', and 'Kiss Me Kiss Your Baby'. Brotherhood Of Man continued to perform across Europe until their retirement in 2020.
Martin Lee is survived by his wife, Brotherhood Of Man's Sandra Stevens, and his daughter from a previous marriage.
