Rory McIlroy, the world's No. 3 ranked golfer, led his DP World 5 Team to victory in the Rolex Pro-Am, marking the opening event of the 2024 DP World Tour Championship. The team achieved an impressive 29-under-par score at the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates.

In the afternoon session, the BMW 2 Team, captained by Gurbax Singh and featuring professional Ángel Hidalgo (Spain) alongside amateurs Satnam Kaur and Sandeep Singh, secured the best score of the day with a remarkable 35-under-par.

The DP World Tour Championship, which concludes the 2024 DP World Tour season, is set to begin tomorrow (Thursday). McIlroy's team, comprising Joseph Cha, Zahid Noorani, and Aazar Khwaja, won the Gold Medal podium trophies, with nines of 10 under and 19 under, winning on a back-nine countback from the Rolex Team.

The format of the event was a 'Tour Scramble' involving 'Par is your Friend,' where all players tee off and the best tee shot is selected. Any net scores under par by any of the teams count towards the team score.

Attention now shifts to the first round of the DP World Tour Championship, where the Race to Dubai title will be contested. Only Thriston Lawrence (RSA) has a chance to catch leader Rory McIlroy for the trophy. The full field of 50 players is set, but defending champion Nicolai Højgaard (Denmark) is notably absent, having failed to progress from last week's Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

David Ravetto (Spain) secured the final spot, making the 50th position to play this week.
