As a wise Focker once said, "You can milk anything with nipples." But when it comes to the Meet The Parents franchise, all you really need is Ben Stiller as Gaylord Focker and Robert De Niro as his ever-vigilant, ex-CIA father-in-law, Jack Byrnes. With three films already under its belt—Meet The Parents, Meet The Fockers, and Meet The Parents: Little Fockers—it seems the time has come to revisit the Focker-Byrnes dynamic once more. According to Deadline, Universal Pictures is developing a fourth installment, with Stiller and De Niro in early discussions to reprise their roles for more comedic family antics.
Details about the plot are currently under wraps, but it’s confirmed that John Hamburg, a longtime franchise co-writer, is handling the script. Additionally, Teri Polo and Blythe Danner, who play Greg (Gaylord’s real name) and Jack’s wives, Pam and Dina, are also expected to return. Beyond that, little is known about the project. The ending of Little Fockers saw Jack approving Greg as the family’s "Gregfocker" before Greg hilariously trolled him on YouTube, leaving the door wide open for more family-centric chaos in the upcoming sequel.
Whether Owen Wilson, Dustin Hoffman, Barbra Streisand, or Laura Dern will join the cast remains uncertain, but it’s a reminder of how star-studded these films have been. For Stiller and De Niro, returning to the Fockerverse will mark a shift from their current projects. Stiller has recently focused on directing, including the sci-fi thriller Severance, while De Niro has been busy with Martin Scorsese’s Killers Of The Flower Moon and his upcoming Netflix series, Zero Day.
Despite their other commitments, fans are hopeful that Meet The Parents 4 will join the ranks of great comedy quadrilogies like American Pie, Madagascar, and Spy Kids.
