Meghan Markle has no plans to emulate her close friend Ellen DeGeneres' recent move to the UK, according to a former palace staffer. Last week, it was reported that DeGeneres, 66, and her wife, Portia de Rossi, 51, relocated to England following Donald Trump's election victory. Sources close to the couple, who married in 2008, suggest they may never return to the US permanently. However, despite her close friendship with the former 'Ellen Show' host, Meghan, 43, is unlikely to follow suit, according to Grant Harrold, who previously served as King Charles' personal butler for seven years.

'Meghan's too much of an American girl, she doesn't want to be in the UK permanently,' Harrold told The Post. 'I can see her coming over for the holidays and having time over here, but living here permanently? I just don't see it.' Harrold noted that this perspective does not apply to Prince Harry, Meghan's husband. The former palace staffer believes the Duke of Sussex, 40, may eventually consider a return to the UK.

Since their royal exit in 2020, the Sussexes have been stripped of tax-funded private security, prompting a conscious effort to stay away from the UK. Although Harry has been working to regain security protection for his family, he and Meghan have not been seen together in the UK since 2022. Additionally, they were reportedly excluded from the royal family's Christmas celebration at Sandringham.

DeGeneres and de Rossi are now preparing to sell their Montecito, Calif., mansion, according to sources. The couple reportedly left the US immediately after President-elect's victory over Kamala Harris, feeling disillusioned. DeGeneres was vocal in her support for Harris and reportedly donated $3,300 to her campaign. With a net worth of $370 million, DeGeneres has an extensive property portfolio, including a recent $27 million purchase in Montecito, where they lived next to the Sussexes and their children.

The couple is now residing in the Cotswolds in South West England, about two hours from London. The area is not only home to famous names but also to royalty, as King Charles and Queen Camilla own Highgrove House in Gloucestershire. DeGeneres and de Rossi have already settled into their new life, as evidenced by their recent visit to Jeremy Clarkson's pub, The Farmer's Dog, in the area.
