As Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 included Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, fans who revisited the franchise in 2023 might still have the game's events fresh in their minds. This makes the upcoming remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, feel like a familiar experience, especially with its new trailer unveiled at the Tokyo Games Show. The trailer, lacking substantial gameplay footage, instead centers on the game's initial mission where Naked Snake—later known as Big Boss—infiltrates behind the Iron Curtain to rescue a Russian scientist named Sokolov.

In the game's lore, Sokolov is the inventor of the Shagohod, a nuclear tank that precedes all subsequent Metal Gear units. The trailer showcases Snake's first encounter with Ocelot and offers a glimpse of the elite Cobra Unit. More significantly, it revisits the pivotal moment when Naked Snake is betrayed by his mentor, The Boss, who defects to Colonel Volgin's Soviet forces. This betrayal leads to Volgin launching a nuclear missile, setting off a chain of events that will impact the game's narrative.

The trailer concludes with Snake meeting Eva, the double agent who becomes his sole dependable ally. Notably, the remake retains the original voice cast, including David Hayter as Naked Snake, Lori Alan as The Boss, Michael Bell as The Fear, Richard Doyle as The Fury, J. Grant Albrecht as The End, Neil Ross as Colonel Volgin, and Suzetta Miñet as Eva. Konami has not yet announced the release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, but it will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
