The UAE experienced a minor earthquake on Sunday, as reported by the National Seismic Network stations of the National Center of Meteorology. The quake, measuring 1.2 on the Richter scale, struck the Al Raheeb area in Dibba Al Fujairah at 10.27pm. It occurred at a depth of 5km. According to the NCM, the earthquake was felt 'slightly' by residents but did not cause any damage to the area.
This recent event follows a series of minor earthquakes in the region. On September 1, a 2.3 magnitude earthquake hit the Masafi area in Fujairah. Prior to that, a 3.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded near the coast of Dibba on August 18. Additionally, a 2.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Masafi on June 8 at 11.01pm. Residents in the UAE also felt tremors from minor earthquakes that hit the Oman Sea on May 29. An earthquake of 3.1 magnitude struck near the coast of Ras Al Khaimah on May 29, followed by another quake of 2.8 magnitude.
