In 2018, God of War introduced players to Atreus, Kratos' son. While the father-son dynamic was well-received, Atreus' constant chatter became a bit overwhelming. This trend persisted in the 2022 sequel, God of War Ragnarok. However, a new mod for the recently released PC version aims to address this issue by silencing Atreus and other companions during puzzles.
According to IGN, a NexusMods user named Mophead01 has created the 'Please Shut Up' mod. This mod builds upon Sony's existing feature that reduces puzzle hint frequency. Mophead01 found that this did not sufficiently tackle the problem, particularly with Atreus frequently reminding players of basic actions. Consequently, the mod removes over 1,500 lines of dialogue from the game.
"Tired of companions telling you things you already know? Tired of the game treating you like a child if you don't instantly solve every puzzle? This mod removes over 1,500 pointless, [patronizing] voice lines from the game," Mophead01 explained.
Unfortunately, this mod is currently unavailable for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 users, as Sony has not yet updated those versions with the PC's hint reduction option. Therefore, only PC gamers can enjoy a quieter Atreus for the time being.
