Moderate to heavy rains impacted certain regions of the UAE on Sunday, October 6. Videos shared by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) and Storm Centre depict rainfall along the country's eastern coastline.

Earlier in the day, the weather bureau informed residents to anticipate precipitation in various areas. The meteorological department issued an orange alert for the formation of convective clouds linked to rainfall, effective until 8pm today.

Yesterday, the weather bureau had also cautioned about heavy rain and thunder as the country would experience surface low pressure, leading to rainfall over the next few days. From October 6 to 9, the UAE will be influenced by a 'relatively cold air-mass in the upper levels.'

While some areas of the country encountered rainfall today, residents can expect humid conditions by night, which will persist until Monday morning in certain coastal and inland regions. Humidity levels will vary between 20 per cent and 90 per cent, while temperatures are predicted to reach up to 36℃ in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The weather bureau also mentioned that winds will be light to moderate but may intensify and reach speeds of up to 35kmph at times. Waves in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman will remain light.

NCM advisory: NCM advised residents in the eastern and northern parts of the country to avoid low-lying areas as these locations are susceptible to flash floods.
