“Modern Family” stars Julie Bowen and Jesse Tyler Ferguson both found themselves in the hospital over Thanksgiving. The actors, who portrayed siblings on the popular sitcom, each had to take their sons to the emergency room on Thursday, sharing the experiences on their respective Instagram accounts.
Bowen, 54, shared a photo of one of her sons outside the ER entrance, accompanied by a light-hearted caption: “It’s not a holiday without a trip to the ER. (He’s fine, btw) HAPPY THANKSGIVING.” Bowen is the mother of three sons: Oliver, 17, and twins John and Gustave, 15, with her ex-husband Scott Phillips.
Ferguson, 49, also posted a picture of himself holding one of his sons in a hospital bed, acknowledging Bowen’s earlier post. “I have received a lot of parenting wisdom from @itsjuliebowen so seeing I wasn’t the only one with a kid in the ER on Thanksgiving was comforting. (He’s also fine.),” Ferguson wrote. He expressed gratitude to the staff at Lennox Health, noting, “NYC really DOES have the best healthcare.” Ferguson and his husband Justin Mikita are parents to two sons, Beckett, 4, and Sully, 2.
Bowen and Ferguson played the roles of Mitchell and Claire on “Modern Family” from 2009 to 2020. The show’s cast also featured Sofia Vergara, Ed O’Neill, Ty Burrell, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould, and Rico Rodriguez. Last year, Bowen, Ferguson, and Vergara reunited at Vergara’s home, sharing a sweet selfie together. “Afternoon with some of my favorite people in the world! I luv u @jessetyler @justinmikita @itsjuliebowen,” Vergara captioned the photo.
In October, Bowen expressed her openness to a “Modern Family” reunion, stating, “Of course, I would be game. I can’t imagine any of us wouldn’t be. We’re stupid for each other.” However, she acknowledged that any potential reunion would depend on the creators, Christopher Lloyd and Steven Levitan.
Other cast members, like Nolan Gould, who played Bowen’s on-screen son Luke, have also shown interest in a reunion. “I love that family. I love that show. If there is anything in the works, you can best believe I’m in,” Gould told US Weekly earlier this year.
