Due to the extensive lore and colossal creatures in Capcom's Monster Hunter series, it can be daunting for newcomers who haven't experienced the games before. However, the recent preview of the upcoming title, Monster Hunter Wilds, is meticulously designed to cater to both fresh players and seasoned veterans. Consider it as Monster Hunter 101, as narrated by the in-game guide, Alma.

The protagonist is a Hunter embarking on an expedition to the Forbidden Lands. The Hunter's team comprises Alma, a female blacksmith named Gemma, and a Palico—a feline-like companion that assists in battles, similar to those seen in World. Multiple teams are also on this mission to reunite a young boy, Nata, with his tribe and defeat the monster that scattered them: Arkveld, the White Wraith.

The creatures in the game will evolve in response to the expedition team's presence, necessitating players to adapt their strategies accordingly. The diverse terrains of the Forbidden Lands will also influence the dynamics of battles. Survival in the wild also involves securing food with the aid of the Palico.

Another key feature is the Hunter's bond with their Seikret, a bird-like, two-legged beast that can be ridden. The Seikret can whisk the player to safety when battles turn dire. Similarly, the Hunter can call for backup in battle to avoid being overwhelmed or defeated. Some threats in this game are too formidable to tackle alone.

Monster Hunter Wilds is set to release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on February 28, 2025.
