The Monster Hunter Wilds beta has made a powerful debut, with over 460,000 concurrent players on Steam within just a few hours of its release. Notably, these figures do not include players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
According to SteamDB, the beta reached a peak of 463,798 players shortly after it began on October 31 at 8 PM PT / 11 PM ET. The open beta will continue until 6:59 PM PT / 9:59 PM ET on November 3, potentially pushing the concurrent player count even higher as the weekend progresses. (At the time of writing, around 430,000 players were actively engaged on Steam.) This year has seen significant milestones on Steam, with user numbers consistently breaking records.
While the beta for Monster Hunter Wilds is underway, GamesRadar has reported some amusing graphical bugs. For instance, a Reddit post showcased a monster transforming into a creature reminiscent of an original PlayStation polygonal model. The official Monster Hunter account on X has acknowledged the presence of these issues.
One notable feature discovered in the beta is an accessibility option designed to assist arachnophobia sufferers. This feature converts spider-like creatures into blob-like slime enemies. Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch on February 28, 2025, and in Japan, a highly exclusive collector's edition including a bike will be available. Preordering the game can save you up to $20 on PC, with Fanatical offering the action-adventure game for $57 (instead of $70) ahead of its release.
