Monster Hunter Wilds is set to officially launch on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The announcement was made during the PlayStation State of Play, revealing that the next installment in Capcom's renowned Monster Hunter series will arrive early next year. Accompanying the release date is a new trailer that showcases several fresh elements.

The trailer introduces some intriguing new monsters, such as an aquatic creature resembling a stingray, and provides additional glimpses of the formidable antagonist, Arkveld. In addition to story elements, the trailer hints at new gameplay mechanics, including the ability to utilize environmental hazards with a grappling hook. Another notable feature shown is hunters throwing barrel bombs instead of merely placing them, potentially enabling more strategic ranged attacks.

Furthermore, the trailer spotlights more creatures from the Scarlet Forest, such as the Wudwuds, a tribe of Lynian isolated from the broader world. The Quematrice, a brute wyvern native to the Windward Plains, is also featured, spraying flammable substances across the environment. Monster Hunter Wilds represents a significant evolution for the series, with expansive, open hunting zones and the inclusion of multiple monsters within these areas simultaneously. Additionally, the game introduces gender-neutral armor, offering players greater flexibility in crafting stylish armor sets.
