Ten hoax bomb threats were received by multiple airlines on Saturday. Among them, five were directed at SpiceJet, while another five were aimed at AirAsia. In recent days, a total of 30 bomb threats have been made against various airlines. In one instance, Star Air relocated its aircraft to an isolation bay following a bomb threat, and passengers were permitted to proceed to the terminal after thorough security checks were conducted.

An IndiGo flight operating from Hyderabad to Chandigarh also faced a hoax bomb threat. The airline confirmed that all passengers were safely evacuated. The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) is currently in discussions with other relevant ministries to amend existing laws, making them more stringent to address cases of hoax bomb threats for flights, according to ministry sources.

A senior official from the Ministry of Civil Aviation announced on Friday that the accused person would be placed on a no-fly list. The official further stated that a committee will be formed in consultation with the law ministry and the Ministry of Home Affairs to draft amendments to the Aircraft Act, 1934, and the Aircraft Rules, 1937, along with subordinate legislations. These amendments aim to ensure a five-year imprisonment and the placement of offenders on a no-fly list for hoax bomb threats related to flights.
