The Mumbai Police issued an advisory on Sunday, urging citizens to stay away from coastal areas due to the heavy rainfall in the city. The police advised residents to only leave their homes if absolutely necessary and to take necessary precautions. In case of emergencies, the number 100 has been designated for assistance. Previously, the Mumbai civic authority also advised residents to avoid unnecessary outings, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued an orange alert for the city, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation stated, "The IMD has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai today. People are requested to avoid going out unless absolutely necessary." Similarly, an orange alert was issued for Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts in Maharashtra's Konkan region. Several roads in Mumbai have become waterlogged, and traffic jams have been reported due to the heavy rains. Mumbai has been experiencing heavy rainfall for the past few weeks.
Additionally, on July 21, the IMD issued an orange alert for several districts in Himachal Pradesh, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall. The weather department also informed that light to moderate rainfall would be accompanied by thunderstorms and likely lightning in various districts of Himachal. Rainfall was predicted for Kangra, Mandi, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Chamba, Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, and Kullu.
