The Muslim World League (MWL) has expressed its support for the statement released on Friday by the Joint Ministerial Contact Group meeting held in Madrid. The statement underscores the group's dedication to the two-state solution as the sole path to achieving peace and security. The meeting, which included representatives from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Qatar, Türkiye, Ireland, Norway, Slovenia, Spain, the League of Arab States, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, condemned all forms of violence and terrorism. It also advocated for the two-state solution, grounded in international law, and the fulfillment of the rights of both the Palestinian people and Israel's security.
In an MWL statement, MWL Secretary General and Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al Issa praised the group's steadfast efforts to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians and secure their legitimate rights and an independent state. He highlighted the significance of strengthening the Palestinian government to carry out its duties in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. Al Issa urged the international community to actively endorse the two-state solution, including broad recognition of the State of Palestine and its full UN membership.
Al Issa also emphasized the urgent need for an immediate, unconditional, and unrestricted large-scale delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians. This includes opening all crossings and supporting the work of UNRWA and other UN agencies. He called on all parties to adhere to their obligations under international humanitarian law and urged the implementation of the International Court of Justice's rulings. Al Issa also demanded an immediate cessation of the dangerous escalation in the West Bank, military attacks on Palestinians, and all illegal measures that undermine peace prospects, such as settlement activities, land confiscation, and the displacement of Palestinians.
Al Issa expressed gratitude for the efforts made in support of the Palestinian cause by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
