Nautor Swan has reached a significant construction milestone for the Swan 128, currently under construction at the shipyard's facilities in Pietarsaari, Finland. The 39-metre sailing yacht is in the process of having her carbon-composite hull painted, with an anticipated launch set for 2025. Introduced at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2022, this model will be the second largest Swan ever built by the Finnish shipyard, following the launch of the Swan 131 Aristarchos in 2006.
The Swan 128's naval architecture is a collaboration with German Frers, a long-standing partner of Nautor Swan, while the interior design is by Italian architect Misa Poggi. As the largest model in the shipyard's fleet, the Swan 128 joins the ranks of the 88, 98, 108, and 120 models. Its styling is an evolution from the Swan 108 and Swan 88, both launched in 2023 and 2024 respectively.
Defined by a sculpted deckhouse, the Swan 128 boasts a slender profile that gives it a more sporty appeal compared to other cruisers. The design emphasizes lightness and functionality, attributes that can be attributed to Lucio Micheletti at Micheletti + Partners. The deck is segmented into three main areas: a social cockpit, a helm station, and a large, multi-functional aft deck that doubles as an open-air beach club. The transom can be lowered to reveal a tender garage capable of housing a 4.5-metre RIB or similar tender.
Upon entering from the cockpit, guests are welcomed by a semi-raised saloon that offers three levels of natural light. A television lounge, directly connected to the raised living room, can be transformed into a spacious dining saloon that seats up to 10 guests. The entire forepart of the yacht is dedicated to the owner's quarters, offering ample opportunities for customization. The remaining guest accommodations can be tailored to individual preferences, with options for single or double beds and additional Pullman berths. The aft area of the boat is reserved for crew accommodations and operations.
Technically, the Swan 128 features a double rudder blade system that ensures optimal control at high speeds, along with fingertip steering for enhanced agility and elegance. The yacht's sail plan includes a mainsail, jib, solent jib, A0, and A2 spinnaker, with a total geometric sail area of 715.6 square metres, allowing it to reach its full potential even in light winds. Heeling is limited to approximately 20 degrees, ensuring comfort while under sail. According to BOATPro, the second unit in the Swan 128 series is also in the process of being built.
This announcement comes on the heels of the delivery of Nautor Swan's first hybrid sailing yacht, the 26.5-metre DreamCatcher.
