2K Sports has unveiled a new and exciting mode for NBA 2K25, called Gravity Ball, which will come at an additional cost. This mode is set to launch on Friday, October 18, and will be priced at $8. But what exactly is Gravity Ball? Described as a fast-paced online multiplayer game, Gravity Ball features both 3v3 and 5v5 gameplay and is accessible through NBA 2K25's The City. The mode is set in a futuristic low-gravity arena where players must navigate the map and collect balls to score points. Gravity Ball was developed by Visual Concepts South, the same team behind NBA 2K25's go-kart racing minigame, The Track. Initially conceived as a passion project, Gravity Ball has now evolved into a fully-fledged game that 2K Sports will be selling within NBA 2K25. In contrast, The Track was offered for free.

Visual Concepts president Greg Thomas described Gravity Ball as a blend of 'American Gladiators meets futuristic basketball meets paintball.' He added, 'Pure off-the-walls mayhem. We've had so much fun playing amongst ourselves, we knew we needed to find a way to share it with you. Leveraging NBA 2K25's platform has given us that opportunity.' Thomas also mentioned that the team aimed to create something fresh and enjoyable for players, expressing his excitement about giving the team a chance to showcase their passion project to a wider audience rather than letting it remain 'on the cutting room floor.'

Gravity Ball will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC starting this Friday, October 18, with a price tag of $8. Unfortunately, it will not be available for the PS4, Xbox One, or Switch versions of the game.
