The Embassy of Nepal in the UAE has urged its citizens to exhibit exemplary conduct and avoid engaging in altercations while under the influence of alcohol. The diplomatic mission in Abu Dhabi, in a statement on its Facebook page, highlighted its role as a representative of goodwill and advised against any form of alcohol-induced conflict.
"The Nepali Embassy calls upon all Nepali nationals residing in the UAE to uphold good behavior both in their communities and workplaces, acting as ambassadors of goodwill for Nepal. Recent reports from local authorities indicate a rise in instances of Nepalis involved in drunken disputes, prompting this advisory for vigilance," the notice dated August 6 read.
The embassy cautioned that UAE law enforcement will not hesitate to act against those who are intoxicated, exhibit unruly behavior, or verbally assault security personnel at the embassy. South Asian embassies in the UAE frequently issue such advisories as part of their ongoing efforts to educate citizens about local laws.
Earlier this week, Bangladeshi missions in the UAE urged their citizens to exercise extreme restraint and adhere to local laws, following protests by Bangladeshis over government policies. Similarly, the Pakistani mission advised its compatriots against seeking employment on tourist visas and to respect all other UAE regulations.
"The Embassy of Nepal in the UAE requests all Nepali brothers and sisters to adhere to local norms and conduct themselves appropriately," the statement concluded.
