Streaming giant Netflix has increased its prices in the UAE, with some users facing a monthly increase of up to Dh10. The new rates will be implemented starting December 23, as notified to users by Netflix. The price hike varies based on the subscriber's selected plan.
Subscribers on the 'standard' plan, which allows full-HD viewing on two devices simultaneously, will now pay Dh49 per month, up from the previous rate of Dh39. 'Premium' subscribers, who enjoy ultra-HD streaming on four devices at once, will see their monthly bill rise to Dh71, up from Dh62.
However, those on the 'basic' subscription will not experience any price increase. The Dh35 rate remains unchanged for this plan, which permits streaming on only one device at a time, with HD video resolutions.
How to switch to a lower-priced plan
If you're considering switching to a more economical plan to reduce monthly costs, follow these steps:
Log into your Netflix account on netflix.com (You'll be directed to an overview of your account.)
Click on 'Change plan' (with a star icon) on the first screen.
Select your desired plan and confirm. Once you downgrade your plan, the lower price will be reflected in your next bill, but you can continue to enjoy the benefits of the higher-tier plan until the next billing date.
For those upgrading their plans, the charge will be based on the remaining balance of the last payment, plus the pro-rata fees for the new plan. All additional features will be available immediately.
