Netflix is preparing to launch 'The Perfect Couple,' a six-part series adapted from Elin Hilderbrand's best-selling novel. The recently released teaser trailer on YouTube suggests a wedding descending into turmoil upon the discovery of a body on the beach, turning a celebration into a murder inquiry. Nicole Kidman plays Greer Garrison Winbury, the groom's mother, and Liev Schreiber stars as Tag Winbury, the groom's father. The story focuses on Amelia Sacks, portrayed by Eve Hewson, who is set to marry into one of Nantucket's wealthiest families. As the wedding events progress, the mood drastically changes with the startling find of a body.
'As secrets emerge, the scene is set for a real-life investigation that seems straight out of one of Greer's books. Suddenly, everyone is a suspect,' Netflix hinted on social media. The trailer reveals Amelia's entry into the lavish Winbury family, emphasizing her worries about their secretive ways, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. In one scene, she questions the need for signing non-disclosure agreements. Dakota Fanning's character cautions, 'The key to this family is to just stay on the periphery where it's safe.'
As the investigation develops, law enforcement interrogates Kidman's character, with an officer asking, 'Is there something you want to tell me?' Meanwhile, Schreiber's character remains composed, dismissing the incident as 'dramatic for an accidental drowning.' Kidman reflects in the trailer, 'We never know what's going on in someone's mind really. No matter how close you are.' The Hollywood Reporter notes that the cast includes Billy Howle, Jack Reynor, Bollywood actor Ishaan Khatter, Meghann Fahy, Sam Nivola, Michael Beach, Donna Lynne Champlin, Mia Isaac, and Isabelle Adjani.
Directed by Susanne Bier, the series aims to merge mystery with the complexities of family relationships, exploring themes of trust and betrayal. 'The Perfect Couple' is scheduled to debut worldwide on Netflix on September 5.
