Residents of Ras Al Khaimah can now navigate the emirate more conveniently with the introduction of a new app designed to streamline access to public transportation. The app, named Sayr, was launched by the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) and enables users to plan and book trips across various modes of transport, including buses, taxis, ride-sharing, and marine transport, all through a single, user-friendly platform. The app aims to enhance the commuting experience for both residents and visitors by providing the best travel options based on their needs, along with real-time schedules, route tracking, and secure online payment methods.
"Sayr acts as a smart gateway for all transportation requirements," stated Eng Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi, Director General of RAKTA. He emphasized that by consolidating multiple modes of transit—including public transport, ride-sharing, and electric scooters—into one platform, the app allows users to plan, book, and manage their journeys effortlessly. Currently, Sayr covers all city and intercity bus routes within Ras Al Khaimah, with plans to include vehicle rentals in the future, making it a versatile solution for various transit needs. The app is built on the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) model, focusing on user-friendly services, integrated mobility solutions, and seamless transit connections, which helps reduce travel time and cost for users, according to Al Blooshi.
Al Blooshi also noted that the MaaS model signifies the future of transportation, offering a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to traditional vehicle use. "Sayr is not just about convenience," he added, "but also about reducing costs, lowering pollution, and alleviating traffic congestion, thereby enhancing the overall urban mobility experience." With its straightforward interface, Sayr allows users to access information, plan trips, and pay fares—all within one app. This design reflects RAKTA's dedication to improving public transport and making Ras Al Khaimah a more connected emirate.
