Microsoft is expanding its backwards compatibility offerings for Xbox One this month with a slew of new titles. Alongside the 19 original Xbox games set to join the Xbox One's backwards compatible library throughout April, a new 360 title is now playable on the current-gen console, with enhancements for Xbox One X users.

As announced during the latest Inside Xbox episode, Sonic Generations is now playable on Xbox One. Initially released in 2011, the game blends classic 2D and modern 3D Sonic gameplay styles. For more details, check out our original Sonic Generations review.

If you have a physical copy of Sonic Generations, simply insert the disc into your Xbox One X to start playing. Digital owners can find the game in the Ready to Download section of the My Games and Apps menu. Alternatively, you can purchase a digital version from the Xbox Store.

In addition to its backwards compatibility, Sonic Generations is one of six new 360 games to receive an update that adds Xbox One X support. Alongside it, Red Dead Redemption, Gears of War 2, Portal 2, Darksiders, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed now run at higher resolutions and offer other visual enhancements on Xbox One X.

The next wave of original Xbox backwards compatible games arrives on April 17, featuring The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Conker: Live & Reloaded, Jade Empire, and Panzer Dragoon Orta. Another batch will be released on April 26, including Destroy All Humans, MX Unleashed, Full Spectrum Warrior, and several Star Wars titles, such as Knights of the Old Republic II.
