The latest midseason update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, set to drop on December 5, introduces the new Citadelle des Morts Zombies map. Fresh insights into this map and its Wonder Weapons have emerged from the most recent episode of Call of Duty's official podcast. Alongside the new map, significant gameplay enhancements for the Zombies mode have been announced.
Despite the initial release featuring two Zombies maps, Season 1 is already expanding with the addition of Citadelle des Morts. This map is set in a French castle, continuing the narrative from the Terminus main Easter egg cutscene. In the latest podcast episode, an interview with Kevin Drew, Treyarch's associate design director for Zombies, provides new details about the midseason update. Drew reveals that Citadelle des Morts emphasizes magic, with the map's distinctive Wonder Weapons being four elemental swords. The map is described as expansive yet containing numerous claustrophobic areas within the castle.
Alongside Citadelle des Morts, the Tesla Storm field upgrade and Vulture Aid perk from previous Zombies modes return. Players can also look forward to a new ammo mod and 18 new augments to unlock. Drew confirms several quality-of-life improvements, including reduced Mangler spawns in mid-to-high rounds, addressing the frustration of excessive Manglers beyond round 25. Treyarch is also implementing a cap on active Manglers up to Round 100. Additionally, the Vermin and Parasite rounds, known for their slow enemy spawns, will be shortened after the update.
More details about the Zombies mode will be unveiled with the Season 1 Reloaded patch notes, expected closer to the update. For a sneak peek, the first trailer for Citadelle des Morts is available, showcasing cinematics that merge storylines from Treyarch's previously unconnected Zombies narratives.
