At the core of Dubai's renowned Meydan Racecourse lies The Track, a nine-hole golf course that has recently appointed a new Director of Golf - Jordan Gallagher. Officially assuming his position on July 29, 2024, Gallagher's primary objective is to rejuvenate Meydan Golf and reinstate it as a top golfing destination in the region.

"This is a remarkable chance for me to leave my imprint on an outstanding facility," Gallagher expresses, his enthusiasm for his new role evident. “The Track Meydan holds immense potential, and it's encouraging to see the new owners investing back into the golf course.” Gallagher recognizes the difficulties the facility has faced over the past year due to instability. Nonetheless, he remains hopeful about the future, as the new ownership is dedicated to reinvesting in the golf course, encompassing staffing, machinery, and golf carts.

As a distinctive venue in Dubai, Gallagher envisions significant potential in showcasing the venue's unique features, such as night golf, breathtaking views, and a hospitable environment for all golfers. Prior to joining Meydan Golf, Gallagher accumulated extensive experience in the UAE golf industry. He served as the Head of Retail and Custom Fitting at Jumeirah Golf Estates and Emirates Golf Club for four years and also spent 15 months as a full-time teaching professional at the Montgomerie Dubai. His comprehensive background in the region equips him well to guide Meydan Golf into its next phase.

Gallagher's career commenced in Scotland, where he was the Head PGA Professional at Baberton Golf Club in Edinburgh. During his two and a half years there, he revolutionized the role of the professional into a more directorial position, contributing to the establishment of a cutting-edge swing studio. “The members and board were fantastic, and I returned to Dubai only because the opportunity to work at Meydan and with Troon aligned with my professional aspirations, as I am one of the youngest professionals to hold advanced PGA status in addition to my CMAE Diploma,” he explained.

Looking forward, Gallagher has grand plans for The Track Meydan. “Ownership has granted us at least three years to implement substantial changes,” he disclosed. “We are reinvesting in the golf course through new machinery and golf carts, which will be introduced in the coming months.” He also mentioned that new teaching professionals are set to join the team soon, elevating the overall experience for golfers.

“Meydan is indispensable for golf in Dubai,” Gallagher emphasized, highlighting its unique offerings compared to other venues. “Often, we are perceived as the budget choice, but there are numerous unique selling points, including Night Golf, the views, the inclusive environment, and the wildlife.” His mission is clear: to restore Meydan to its former vibrant and essential status as a golf facility in Dubai.

With Gallagher's leadership and the new ownership's commitment, the future of Meydan Golf appears promising, poised for a revitalization that will draw golfers from all corners.
