Sharjah is developing a new environmental initiative along Al Dhaid Road, and upon completion, residents might have the opportunity to witness herds of camels, horses, goats, and sheep freely roaming within a fenced area.
The forthcoming sanctuary was disclosed by Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, during a conversation with residents about the significance of safeguarding natural treasures. In a call to the 'Direct Line' radio program, Sheikh Dr Sultan urged residents to respect nature and wildlife, particularly species unique to Sharjah. He emphasized that the emirate's nature reserves are not parks where people can freely enter and explore; instead, they are balanced environments designed to protect wild plants, trees, animals, insects, reptiles, and more. Public access could jeopardize their safety, he noted.
The new eco-project on Al Dhaid Road will feature parking spaces from which visitors can observe the animals. Sheikh Dr Sultan reiterated his dedication to environmental conservation, a cause he has been championing since 1972.
