A new game from Fumito Ueda, the creator of Shadow of the Colossus and Ico, has been teased at The Game Awards, though it remains untitled. The brief preview featured a helmeted character scaling a massive mech while an electronic voice counted down to an imminent threat. Developed by Ueda's studio GenDesign and published by Epic Games, the trailer showcased the protagonist, armed with a gun, helmet, and poncho, ascending a colossal mech reminiscent of Ueda's iconic work in Shadow of the Colossus. Upon reaching the top, the character enters the mech's head, which detaches from the body and rises above an approaching shockwave. The teaser suggests the escape may not be successful, leaving fans eager for more details on this unnamed project.
This marks GenDesign's second project, following the release of The Last Guardian in 2016, and its first collaboration with Epic Games Publishing. The partnership has been in development for some time, and according to a statement from Epic early last year, the new project is set to be an Epic Games Store exclusive for an extended period. With no title and limited information available, it's no surprise that the game lacks a release window. It remains unclear whether the game will also launch on consoles alongside its Epic Games Store debut.
