A new single featuring Liam Payne, the former One Direction singer who passed away earlier this month after a tragic fall from his Buenos Aires hotel room, is set to be released on Friday, according to a collaborator. Announcing the upcoming release, US singer and songwriter Sam Pounds expressed hope that the track, 'Do No Wrong', would serve as a source of comfort to the world, particularly to Payne's mourning family.
"I pray that this song will overshadow any negative reverberations," Pounds posted on social media, accompanied by black and white artwork for the single depicting a winged angel ascending towards a broken heart. "I pray for supernatural healing power to touch each and every one of you," he added.
Payne was discovered deceased on October 16, having fallen from the balcony of his third-floor room at the Casa Sur Hotel in the Argentinian capital. His untimely death at the age of 31 sparked a worldwide wave of grief and condolences from his family, former bandmates, fans, and others. Hotel staff had twice called emergency services to report a guest who was "overwhelmed by drugs and alcohol" and causing significant damage to a hotel room.
Payne had openly discussed his battles with substance abuse and the pressures of fame from a young age. Prior to his death, the musician had worked on 'Do No Wrong' with North Carolina singer Pounds, with three versions of the song planned for release, including a live mix and an a cappella single. Payne's final solo work, a single titled 'Teardrops', was released in March, with hints of a second album at the time.
The day following his death, Pounds shared a montage of tributes to Payne on Instagram, featuring a video of Payne in the recording studio for the track. "I can't believe I'm writing this post. I can't believe you are gone in this way," he wrote.
