In celebration of Hobbit Day, Warner Bros. Pictures unveiled a fresh poster for the upcoming animated feature, The War of the Rohirrim. The poster prominently features Hera, voiced by Gaia Wise, who is the daughter of Helm Hammerhand, played by Brian Cox, the ninth king of Rohan. The film is set 200 years prior to the events depicted in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings series. Jackson serves as an executive producer on The War of the Rohirrim, which is directed by Kenji Kamiyama, known for his work on Ghost in the Shell.
The poster also affirms that the film is branded as 'Peter Jackson Presents,' a move intended to reassure fans of the live-action series that Jackson is involved in this project as well. The War of the Rohirrim is scheduled for theatrical release on December 13. Additionally, Miranda Otto returns as the voice of Eowyn, who narrates the film. For a glimpse into the film, a trailer is available. If The War of the Rohirrim doesn't pique your interest, Warner Bros. is concurrently developing several other Lord of the Rings films, starting with the tentatively titled The Hunt for Gollum. Andy Serkis is set to reprise his role and direct the movie, which is slated for release in 2026.
September 22 marked Hobbit Day, commemorating the joint birthdays of Frodo and Bilbo Baggins. Alongside the reveal of the new War of the Rohirrim poster, the release date for the next The Lord of the Rings game, Tales of the Shire, was also announced.
