A new PS5 console update has been released, bringing with it not only the usual improvements in system performance and stability, but also a more informative design for the Activities hub. Update version 24.07-10.20.00 introduces changes to how activities are displayed, categorizing them as In Progress, Not Started, or Completed, based on your interaction with them. Additionally, the update includes measures to prevent potential spoilers. Here are the concise patch notes from Sony:
This update arrives just weeks before the launch of the PS5 Pro, which is set to debut on November 7 at a price of $700. In anticipation of the upgraded console's arrival, several games have received updates to optimize their performance. This week, both The Last of Us Part 1 and Part 2 received PS5 Pro patches, and Remedy Entertainment, the developer of Alan Wake 2, has shared more details about the upcoming PS5 Pro update for the survival-horror game.
Alan Wake 2 will continue to offer Quality and Performance modes, but these modes provide significant enhancements over the base PS5 version. In Quality mode, the game runs at 30fps with ray-tracing features and a native 4K resolution that is upscaled from a render resolution of 2176 x 1224. Conversely, Performance mode offers a higher output resolution—upscaled from 1536 x 864—and includes more visual detail compared to the standard PS5 version.
