With the recent debut of the new Porsche 911, it was inevitable that the high-performance GT3 variant(s) would soon follow. Although we don't have a comprehensive view or official details about the new track-focused sports car yet, Porsche has given us a sneak peek of its next-generation GT3 through a shadowy teaser image and some preliminary information.

Porsche assures that this upcoming 911 GT3 will be even more 'exhilarating' and 'innovative' compared to its predecessors. It will be available in two variants at launch, though Porsche is keeping the specifics of these variants under wraps for now. Our best assumption is that we might see a standard 911 GT3 and a GT3 RS, or possibly even the GT3 Touring at launch.

Porsche's professional drivers, Walter Rohrl and Jorg Bergmeister, will be the first to experience the production 911 GT3, providing valuable insights when the sports car is unveiled. While the exact powertrain remains undisclosed, we anticipate that the new 911 GT3 will not follow the hybrid path of its sibling, the Carrera GTS.

The current 911 GT3 features a 4.0-liter flat-six engine delivering 500 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque, capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 3.0 seconds. The 911 GT3 RS, equipped with the same flat-six engine, produces 518 hp and 343 lb-ft of torque, achieving the 0-60 mph sprint in about 2.7 seconds. The new 911 GT3 is expected to be even more powerful, particularly in its RS form. However, all details will be revealed when it makes its debut.

Fortunately, the wait won't be long—the new Porsche 911 GT3 will be unveiled on Tuesday, October 18 at 12:30 PM ET (6:30 PM CEST). So, mark your calendars.
