Valve has unveiled the next limited-edition Steam Deck, set to go on sale shortly. The Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition White will be available for purchase in limited numbers starting November 18. This model boasts the same specifications as the current 1 TB OLED version but features a fresh white-and-grey color scheme. Additionally, it comes with a white carrying case exclusive to this edition and a white microfiber cloth.
Orders will commence through Steam on November 18 at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET, with the device priced at $680 USD. Valve has emphasized that this is a limited edition, meaning once the stock is sold out, no more will be available. "Once we're out, we're out," a spokesperson stated. Valve has also ensured that stock is allocated "proportionally" across regions where the system will be sold. To purchase one of these new Steam Decks, users must have made a Steam purchase before November 2024 and be in good standing with the company. Valve is restricting orders to one unit per account.
The new Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition White will be available in the US, Canada, UK, Europe, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea. Last year around this time, Valve introduced a translucent Steam Deck OLED as an experiment to gauge interest in different colors. The response was overwhelmingly positive, leading to the introduction of the white version. Unlike the 2023 translucent model, which was limited to the US and Canada, the new white edition will be available globally where Steam Deck is sold.
Valve expressed curiosity about the public's reaction and plans to use the feedback to inform future decisions on potential new color variants. The original Steam Deck, launched in 2022, has been a significant success, aiming to provide a portable gaming PC experience akin to a console. While it wasn't the first handheld PC gaming device, it may not be the last, as Microsoft is reportedly developing its own handheld Xbox device.
