Comedian Nikki Glaser has been announced as the host for the upcoming Golden Globe Awards. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Glaser will emcee the 82nd annual ceremony in January 2025. In an official statement, Glaser expressed her excitement, saying, "I am over the moon to be hosting the Golden Globes. It's a highlight of the TV calendar, and now I have a prime spot—well, I suppose I'll be on stage."
She further commented, "The Golden Globes is a significant event for both television and film, and it's a major night for comedy. It's rare that the entertainment industry not only permits but actively supports being gently ridiculed—at least, I hope it does. Hosting is both thrilling and daunting due to its live nature, unpredictability, and the presence of Hollywood's elite."
Describing the role as a 'dream job,' Glaser continued, "Some of the best jokes ever told have been during the Golden Globes' opening monologues, delivered by Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, or Ricky Gervais, who said exactly what we didn't realize we needed to hear. I aim to uphold that cherished tradition, even if it might lead to my cancellation. This truly is a dream job. Also, I no longer feel guilty about all the TV shows and movies I've watched in the past year. It was all for a good cause. (I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Below Deck: Sailing Yacht Season Four to get a nomination!)."
The 82nd annual Golden Globes are scheduled to broadcast on Sunday, January 5.
