Red Candle Games has announced that its Sekiro-inspired metroidvania, Nine Sols, will be available on PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox on November 26. The studio has unveiled a brand-new trailer, and the game will also be accessible on Game Pass from its launch day.

Nine Sols follows Yi, a protagonist determined to overthrow the nine Sols, the tyrannical rulers of the realm of New Kunlun. The developers describe the aesthetics of Nine Sols as 'Taopunk,' blending futuristic cyberpunk elements with eastern fantasy and mythology. Despite featuring challenging parrying mechanics, the game offers options to adjust damage dealt and received, making it more accessible and less frustrating compared to its inspiration.

Previously known for creating horror games like Detention and Devotion, Red Candle Games has taken a bold step with Nine Sols, presenting a bright and colorful platformer that contrasts sharply with their earlier titles. The game was initially released on PC in May, following a successful crowdfunding campaign in 2022. It currently holds a solid score of 83 on Metacritic, GameSpot's sister site.
