Nintendo has addressed the potential for acquiring additional companies, stating that while it is exploring all avenues, the Mario creator would rather "grow organically." In conjunction with Nintendo's recent earnings report, the company mentioned, "We do not dismiss the prospect of further mergers and acquisitions." However, Nintendo emphasized that its primary focus remains on organic growth, and for valid reasons.

Nintendo explained that organic growth enables new employees to "fully absorb and comprehend our creative ethos," which could be more difficult if Nintendo were to simply acquire a company. Since 2021, Nintendo has made several acquisitions, including Next Level Games, SRD, and Shiver in the gaming sector. Additionally, Nintendo expanded by establishing Nintendo Pictures, a new division dedicated to adapting its franchises for film and television.

Among the other companies under Nintendo's umbrella are Monolith Soft, Retro Studios, iQue, and 1-Up Studio, among others. The Nintendo Switch stands as Nintendo's most successful home console to date, with 146 million units sold (the portable DS, with 154 million units, remains the top seller). High expectations are set for the Switch 2. Nintendo recently reaffirmed that the Switch 2, or whatever the system may be named, will be unveiled by April 2025 and will support games from the current Switch.
