A low-quality video purporting to show the Nintendo Switch 2 has surfaced, sparking speculation among fans about the authenticity of the footage and the features of the unreleased console. The video was uploaded to the Chinese video platform Bibli and was initially discovered by Nintendo Soup (via Kotaku). The clip appears to depict someone detaching a joycon from the side of the Switch 2 screen by simply pulling it off. The controllers in the video feature infrared sensors on both the left and right joycons, as well as larger shoulder buttons. This aligns with previous leaks suggesting that the Switch 2 would have magnetic joycons and a more intricate controller design, while still retaining the basic form of the original Switch. However, the blurry nature of the footage raises doubts about its legitimacy and could indicate that it is a fabricated version of the console based on prior leaks.
Information about the upcoming console remains scarce. Nintendo has confirmed that an official announcement for the Switch 2 will be made before April 2025. The console was previously rumored to launch in 2024, but recent reports suggest that it has been delayed. The technical specifications of the Switch 2 are still uncertain, though a Digital Foundry report claimed that the system would utilize an Nvidia custom T239 processor. Nintendo has recently confirmed that the successor will be backward compatible. Additionally, Nintendo Switch Online will transition to the new system. At least one game has already been announced for the forthcoming console.
