Nissan has introduced a trim line in Australia known as Warrior. This is an all-terrain enhancement that the company currently provides for the Navara and Patrol models, and there are indications it could be extended to the Z sports car. The automaker recently submitted a trademark application with IP Australia for the Z Warrior name.
A high-riding Z model wouldn't be unprecedented. Porsche has the 911 Dakar, and Lamborghini has the Huracan Sterrato, so why shouldn't the Z get in on the action? Last year, Nissan tantalized us with the Safari Rally Z Tribute, which drew inspiration from the Datsun 240Z that triumphed in the 1971 East African Safari Rally. Tommy Pike Customs crafted the concept, which featured a two-inch ride height increase over the standard model, along with 17-inch prototype Nismo Safari wheels and Yokohama Geolander M/T G003 tires. Additional lighting on the hood, lower bumper, and A-pillars further enhanced its rally-ready appearance.
The concept also boasted a tuned version of the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine, delivering over 400 horsepower. Sports cars are already a niche market, and a rugged Z would be even more specialized, but it would be thrilling to see another high-riding sports car join the ranks. Ideally, it would come equipped with features like a raised suspension, underbody protection, new bumpers, and more, mirroring the other Warrior models.
While Nissan is considering expanding the Warrior line in Australia, it has not yet confirmed whether this will include its sports car. If Nissan does indeed upgrade the Z for off-road duty, we hope they consider exporting it here as well.
