The 27-year-old son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of assaulting a woman, according to police statements made on Wednesday. Marius Borg Hoiby, born in 1997 from a pre-2001 marriage relationship with Norway's future king Crown Prince Haakon, is the subject of this arrest. Police were dispatched to an address in Oslo early Sunday following a reported altercation in an apartment overnight. A man in his twenties was apprehended in connection with the incident and subsequently released from custody the next day, as detailed in a police release.

The police have confirmed, following media reports identifying the suspect as Marius Borg Hoiby, that he is indeed the individual under suspicion in this case. He is accused of causing "bodily harm and damage," although the identity of the woman involved has not been disclosed, with police only stating a "relationship between the accused and the victim." There is no indication from the police that the victim sustained serious injuries.

The royal family has remained silent on this matter. Marius Borg Hoiby, who was raised by Mette-Marit and Haakon alongside his step-siblings, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, 20, and Prince Sverre Magnus, 18, does not hold an official public role unlike his siblings.
