If you're a fan of classic Pokemon games and pixel art, you might find it challenging to choose which of Mega's officially licensed Pokemon buildable models to grab during Target's Black Friday sale. All six of the fantastic Pokemon Retro Sets are available for just $17.49 each until Saturday. This nostalgic collection of building sets allows you to create pixel art-inspired figures of some of the most cherished and recognizable Generation 1 Pokemon from the Kanto Region: Pikachu, Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Eevee, and Mew.

The Pokemon Retro Sets range from 323 to 434 pieces, offering great value for money. If you're a long-time Pokemon fan yearning for the days of battling static sprite-monsters on Game Boy, you should definitely consider the Retro series while it's on sale. These sets would also make excellent stocking stuffers for fans this holiday season. A few of the Pokemon Retro Sets are labeled as Target exclusives, but since their launch last year, we haven't seen them available at other retailers, suggesting they might all be exclusives now.

As noted, all the Pokemon featured are from Generation 1. You can assemble sprites of all three original starters from Pokemon Red and Blue for Game Boy: Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander. Series mascot and Pokemon Yellow starter Pikachu is, of course, part of the set. The most recent additions to the lineup, Mew and Eevee, were released in August. Each Pokemon comes with a shelf display stand, but you can also mount your pixel art Pokemon on the wall in your game room. Each figure is approximately six inches tall and is officially licensed by The Pokemon Company.

The pixel art designs of Mega's retro Pokemon figures would likely look fantastic on the shelf next to the new Super Mario World Lego set featuring pixel art depictions of Mario and Yoshi. Lego Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi was released on October 1 and is currently in stock at Target, Amazon, and the Lego Store.

Another standout Mega Bloks deal at Target also taps into video game nostalgia. The officially licensed Xbox 360 building set is on sale for 50% off, bringing the price down to just $75 (originally $150). This Mega Showcase building set is exclusive to Target. The complete build consists of 1,342 pieces and includes the console, controller, a Halo 3 game box and disc, and some very cool interactive features that Xbox and Halo fans will surely appreciate. It even comes packaged in a replica of the real box the console launched with back in 2005. It's a fun build and a great display piece. The current $75 price is the best yet (previous low was $100).

While browsing these retro-themed brick-building sets at Target, be sure to check out the retailer's Lego deals, as there are some real gems to be found, especially if you're a Star Wars fan. The Target-exclusive Invisible Hand Dreadnought is $20 off; Darth Vader's helmet has received a rare 20% discount; and the 2,000-plus piece buildable Chewbacca figure is $60 off.
