Design studios byJC and Rob Doyle Design have unveiled a new, 63.5-metre explorer trimaran concept named Oi60. This innovative design is crafted to "reach the far corners of our planet with pace." The exterior of Oi60 boasts a sharp and tight profile, equipped with wave piercing hulls that minimize pitching motion during navigation. The yacht features a cross beam connecting its three hulls, creating a layout akin to a "huge, perforated box."
Forward, Oi60 can accommodate up to 12 guests, with ample natural light streaming in through glass walls enveloping the structure. The heart of the yacht's living space is its midship, a versatile area accessible through openings integrated into the yacht's design. The main deck offers moveable partitions that can be adjusted to open or protect the area as needed.
Renderings depict the yacht with an aft swimming platform featuring a large pool, solar panels covering its roof structure, a beach club area, and extensive outdoor lounging and dining spaces. On the technical front, the sail plan includes a free-standing mast and simplified sailing systems that can be operated single-handedly from the bridge or helm stations. The masts are Panamax compliant, facilitating easy passage between the Atlantic and Pacific, making Oi60 ideal for global exploration.
Key specifications include a mast height of 61 metres, a beam of 28 metres, and an internal space with a gross tonnage exceeding 1,200GT. The yacht is designed to be "both self-sufficient and efficient, harnessing power from the wind and sun."
