As temperatures surge across the region, intermittent showers and thunderstorms are anticipated in various parts of Oman. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Sultanate has issued a cautionary notice from July 30 to August 2, alerting the public to a prolonged air depression in the Arabian Sea, which commences from the evening of July 30. Expect overcast conditions accompanied by sporadic rainfall of differing intensities and thunderstorms. The authority has additionally cautioned residents about potential flooding in reefs and valleys during this timeframe. Southern, northern, and central regions of Oman, including Muscat and Dhofar, are likely to experience these unfavorable weather conditions. The CAA has also issued a sandstorm alert for certain areas such as Adam, Haima, and Marmul. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is also grappling with rainfall and sandstorms. The National Centre of Meteorology in Makkah issued a red alert on Tuesday, warning residents of significant rainfall. The authority has warned of dust storms across the country until August 3, including coastal areas near Makkah. The Storm Centre previously shared a video depicting extensive clouds known as 'Jizan' dominating the skies during a sandstorm, accompanied by thunder and lightning.
