The Ministry of Health in Oman announced on Saturday that the country has not recorded any cases of mpox. The authority stated that it is keeping an eye on developments regarding the disease, following the World Health Organisation's designation of mpox as a public health emergency. On Friday, Pakistan's health ministry confirmed at least one case of the mpox virus in a patient who had recently returned from a Gulf country, while provincial health authorities reported three additional cases. Sweden also confirmed its first case of mpox on Thursday, a viral infection that is transmitted through close personal contact. The World Health Organisation has declared an outbreak of mpox a global health emergency for the second time in two years. Mpox transmission among people can occur through direct contact with infectious skin or lesions, which includes various forms of interaction such as talking, touching, and intimacy. The disease can also be spread through respiratory droplets or short-range aerosols from close contact.
