Following its successful implementation in Sharjah and Fujairah, the 'one-day test' initiative for acquiring a driving license has been reintroduced, this time in a new emirate. Ras Al Khaimah Police, via its Centre for Traffic and Licensing at the Automotive and Driver Licensing Department, has launched an initiative aimed at simplifying the process of obtaining driver's licenses for national service recruits. The expedited procedure, set to operate from July to December 2024, allows soldiers to undergo eye tests, internal, and external practical evaluations all within a single day, according to the emirate's police on Wednesday.
Colonel Saqir bin Sultan Al-Qasimi, Director of the Department of Machinery and Drivers Licensing of the Ras Al Khaimah Police, highlighted that the one-day test service was introduced to conserve the time and energy of national service soldiers, eliminating the need to attend multiple sessions for a driving license. By consolidating theory, internal, and external (on-road) tests into one day, and upon successful completion of the theory exam, required training hours, and assessment and expressway tests, one can secure a driving license on the same day. National service soldiers are encouraged to utilize the initiative through the Ministry of Interior (MOI) app, which provides the necessary steps and guidelines.
A comparable initiative was initiated in Fujairah in June. The recruits must hold high school diplomas to qualify for the benefits of this initiative, authorities added in their announcement. Last year, Sharjah also introduced the one-day driving test. Sharjah Police later disclosed that within two weeks, a total of 194 male and female trainees across the emirate benefited from the 'One-Day Test' Initiative.
