RIYADH: Oracle Corp., a leading technology firm, has officially launched its second public cloud region in Riyadh, providing clients with services for application modernization, data analytics, and artificial intelligence innovation.

This launch is part of a $1.5 billion investment aimed at boosting Saudi Arabia’s digital infrastructure. The Riyadh cloud region will grant public and private sector organizations in the Kingdom access to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, enabling them to modernize their applications.

Riyadh marks the second of Oracle’s cloud regions in Saudi Arabia. In an interview with Arab News, Nick Redshaw, Oracle’s Senior Vice President of Technology Cloud for the Middle East and Africa, emphasized that the growing demand for virtual services necessitated the expansion. The existing infrastructure in Jeddah was deemed insufficient, prompting the establishment of a second region.

This expansion aligns with Oracle’s distributed cloud strategy and follows the earlier launch of a region in Jeddah, along with previously announced plans for another in NEOM. Redshaw noted, “We had always planned for three regions. Initially, NEOM was slated to be the second region, but Riyadh went live sooner. The third region is still expected to be NEOM, likely towards the end of this year or early next year.”

This initiative is expected to significantly bolster the Kingdom’s AI economy, which is forecasted to reach $135.2 billion by 2030.
