The National Centre of Meteorology has issued an orange alert due to strong winds generating blowing dust and diminishing horizontal visibility. This alert is in effect from 11:39 am today, August 17, until 8:00 pm on the same day. The weather department reports that horizontal visibility has dropped below 3000 meters at Al Maktoum International Airport.

Previously, the NCM had issued a yellow alert for wind and dust conditions. Additionally, a yellow alert was issued for winds gusting up to 40 kmph and rough seas with wave heights of 6 feet in the Oman Sea, effective from 1:00 pm on Saturday to 1:00 pm on Sunday, August 18. Earlier, a red alert was also issued, warning of a significant reduction in horizontal visibility, which remained active until 8:30 am today.

Abu Dhabi Police, in a post on X, urged drivers to be cautious due to the foggy conditions that reduce visibility. Meanwhile, light rains and heavy drizzle affected certain areas of the UAE earlier today.
