The Pakistani community in the UAE has been urged to utilize the amnesty scheme introduced by the UAE government to regularize their status. Pakistani diplomatic missions in the Emirates have pledged their full support to this initiative by the UAE government, aiming to ensure that a significant number of individuals can benefit from it.
"The UAE government has implemented an amnesty scheme effective from September 1 to October 31, 2024. In response to this, the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai are providing comprehensive assistance to Pakistani nationals in the UAE to maximize their benefits from the UAE government's amnesty scheme... We strongly encourage all eligible Pakistani nationals to seize this opportunity provided by the UAE government," stated the Pakistani missions in a recent announcement.
To assist Pakistanis in applying for amnesty, the Pakistani embassy and consulate will operate on Saturdays until the end of October 2024, offering services such as document renewal, update, or validation. These facilities will also provide consular services including the renewal or issuance of national identity cards, passports, and attestation services. Additionally, outpass sections are available for issuing outpass/emergency travel documents to Pakistani nationals without passports, facilitating their return to Pakistan.
"The Embassy and Consulate General of Pakistan are dedicated to supporting our Pakistani community members throughout this period," reiterated the statement from the missions. Pakistanis constitute the second largest community in the UAE, following Indians. Among the nearly 9.7 million population in the UAE, approximately 1.7 million are Pakistanis. In 2023 alone, over 230,000 Pakistanis arrived in the country seeking improved employment and life opportunities.
