Earlier this year, Pocketpair introduced Palworld, an open-world monster-taming adventure that swiftly became one of the standout hits of 2024. However, the year is far from over, as Pocketpair has already hinted at Palworld's inaugural crossover collaboration set for 2025. This collaboration will feature the game's heavily armed yet adorable monsters alongside characters from the crafting game Terraria.

The announcement was made via Pocketpair's official Palworld account on X. Additionally, Pocketpair teased that the next update for Palworld is on the horizon, promising it will arrive 'very soon.'

Palworld and Terraria are quite distinct games. Terraria embraces a retro 2D aesthetic within a sandbox framework reminiscent of Minecraft. In contrast, Palworld boasts a 3D environment and gameplay mechanics that closely mirror Nintendo's Pokemon series. It remains unclear how these two distinct game elements will be fused together for the collaboration. It's possible that Palworld characters could make an appearance in Terraria, and vice versa.

Despite Nintendo's ongoing lawsuit against Pocketpair, the company's ambitions for Palworld show no signs of waning. The game was recently ported to the PlayStation 5, even in Japan where the lawsuit is being contested. Pocketpair subsequently revealed the three patents that Nintendo alleges Palworld infringes upon, along with the relatively modest sum—approximately just under $33,000—that Nintendo is seeking in damages. Interestingly, the same amount is also being sought in damages from The Pokemon Company.

In the meantime, Pocketpair and Sony have joined forces to establish Palworld Entertainment, aiming to expand the franchise and explore new merchandise and licensing avenues.
