The iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris was illuminated by the five Olympic rings as the city prepares for the start of the multi-sport event tonight. The Paris Olympics 2024 opening ceremony is set to commence at 9.30pm, UAE time. For the first time, the dazzling ceremony will not take place within a stadium. Instead, the traditional Parade of Nations will occur along the Seine River, which runs through the heart of Paris. Over 10,000 Olympic athletes will travel along the Seine on 100 boats, passing by several of Paris's most famous landmarks, including Notre Dame, Pont des Arts, Pont Neuf, and others. This unique floating parade will begin at Austerlitz Bridge near the Jardin des Plantes and conclude at the Trocadero, where the final Olympic protocols and performances will be held. The ceremony is anticipated to extend beyond three hours. French theater director and actor Thomas Jolly is in charge of the ceremonies for the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics.
